It's amazing how much difference it makes to some classes whether I teach them in the mornings or afternoons and i've had to rework my program comletely to account for afternoon lessons, after HPE...... The key is to make the most of those morning lessons when classes are more focussed and can do the more complex tasks. I think we all feel like this, but for the younger students it is definitely more pronouced...and now the warmer weather has set in it creates a further layer of challenge.
The yr 9 history class did a great job at categorising the types of inventions from the Industrial Revolution and most students have attempted the level one task after having worked on the level one task. The yr 9 english class were a little unsettled but have completed the cover design task so tomorrow we will be starting to read the novel The Hunger Games. Ive found a youtube video with the same recording as the audiobook i have a copy of so that will hopefully make the process a little easier.
Yr 8 english have started their novel cover assignment and although ive added a level two tasks almost all the students have gone straight to the level one task. It's quite a complex task but i think with a bit of focus they'll do it well. This will be the first written task they have completed after being on camp last week so I'm interested to see how they will go with a task that is quite detailed.
Yr 10 Geography have finally finished their questions about the news articles on whether being rich makes you happy... there are still a few that have yet to submit their blog but I expected that might be a bit more of a challenge for students as they are not used to submitting work this way. Ive collected their books but will need to apologise profusely as i ran out of time last night to mark them. ... :(
ok... well dan and phil have uploaded another video so im off.......
This blog is a record of the day to day classroom activities for teachers, parents and students. This is also a bit of a personal record for myself on how things are going and what each class is working on.
