Social Media Language

Social Media Language

We can divide the language of social media into two different types
1. The words used to describe features of the site eg like button, snap, tweet
2. The slang words used by members of the site when they communicate with each other.

YouTube

Let's have a look at YouTube as an example.

Group work

In groups choose one of the following social media and write as many words as you can that are used in the app and by people using it.

Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, Tumblr, Youtube

In Your books

Choose one of the Social Media ( it doesn't have to be the one your group had )

1. Write the Title of the Social Media
2.Choose 10 words and for each one:
- write a definition for the word
- use the word in a sentence of more then 5 words.

eg Reddit
1. TL:DR
This word means Too Long Didn't Read and is used as a summary when the post is really long and people may not want to read it.
"He posted a really long story, do I just read the TL:DR instead "

2. OG
