In the first chapter we get to meet all the main characters and learn about where the novel takes place.
For each character create a page in your books to record details of them and their lives. Divide the page up like this.. As we read we will stop and add information to these profiles. |

CHAPTER TWO and CHAPTER THREE
Chapter two revolves around the main characters finding their way into Hell and describing the landscapes around them.

Have a read over the lines below and in your books write down the quote and if you think they are a simile or metaphor. Then write 2 similes and 2 metaphors of your own

DESCRIPTIVE WRITING
Write a descriptive piece that describes a place that you enjoy going to or are familiar with. It doesn't have to be a place in nature - it can be a bedroom, sports ground or friends house. Consider why you like it, the sight, sound, touch, taste, smell of the place. You will need to include at least one simile or metaphor in your description. 250 words
