Started the day with a meeting with members of the RSL to organise a interschool display at the Nautilus theatre for Anzac Day. Lots of enthusiasm and ideas about ways we can highlight the work of our students.
My yr 9 history class had a relief teacher and as many of the laptops were being repaired they used this lesson to finish off watching Gallipoli which will help with our Anzac presentation later in the term. The yr 9 english class finished their chapter one questions which will be completed for homework and then we started reading chapter two.
The yr 8 english class started with showing them the features of the website, then we went to the library to borrow the novel, Tomorrow When the War Began. When we got back to class we also had a look at our spelling test results.
Yr 10 Geography had the opportunity to resubmit their first two tasks as I wasnt happy with the detail that they had put into their answers. It was their first marked piece of work so it gave me a good idea about their geographical skills and in particular their ability to summarise and note.
The day ended with a lovely Yr 8 parent meeting and it was good to see so many parents and students there. I've also realised i should probably send a letter home to parents/caregivers letting them know about my website and how they can find it ... so that's the plan for tonight!
This blog is a record of the day to day classroom activities for teachers, parents and students. This is also a bit of a personal record for myself on how things are going and what each class is working on.
